🌳 Welcome to Oak Class 🌳
Welcome to Oak Class, our wonderful mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class.
In Oak Class, we believe that every child is unique, precious and full of potential. Together, we learn, explore, wonder, question and grow, supporting one another as we embrace the fullness of life.
Just like an oak tree, we are always growing. We grow in knowledge, in confidence, in friendship and in our understanding of ourselves, others and the world around us.
Spirituality is woven through everything we do. We encourage our children to notice the wonder in the everyday, to ask big questions and to think deeply about what they experience.
We use our Windows, Mirrors and Doors approach to help us do this:
🪟 Windows – looking out at the world with wonder and curiosity.
What can we notice, discover and learn?
🪞 Mirrors – looking within ourselves and reflecting.
How does this make me feel? What do I think and believe? What is important to me?
🚪 Doors – thinking about how our learning might encourage us to act and make a difference.
What could I do? How can I show love, kindness and courage?
In our mixed Year 1 and Year 2 class, children learn with and from one another. We celebrate our different strengths, experiences and ideas and know that everyone has something valuable to contribute.
Our classroom is a place where it is safe to wonder, safe to make mistakes, safe to ask questions and safe to be yourself.
We encourage our children to be:
Curious thinkers • Kind friends • Courageous learners • Reflective individuals • Hopeful changemakers
Our Christian values help to guide the way we learn, play and care for one another. Through friendship, kindness, forgiveness, perseverance, peace, hope and thankfulness, we learn what it means to live well together.
We look for those special moments when children put our values into action and help to make our school and our world a happier, kinder place.
Throughout our learning, we make time to stop, notice and wonder.
What makes you wonder?
What brings you joy?
What are you thankful for?
What can we learn from one another?
How can we make a difference?
These big questions help us to explore our learning more deeply and understand our place within God's wonderful world.
We wonder. We reflect. We learn. We care. We flourish.
Together we embrace the fullness of life.
