UK GDPR
Governor Lead: | Mr James Peate |
Nominated Lead Members of Staff | Mrs Shan Weston Mrs Rose Bennett |
On the 25 May 2018, the UK’s Data Protection Act 1998 was replaced by a new law called the GDPR (the EU General Data Protection Regulation 2016). This law governs how we collect, use and share people’s information and provides greater rights to individuals and control over how their information is handled by organisations, including schools. Following BREXIT this is now known as UK GDPR.
Schools have strict Data Protection Policies, ensuring data is kept securely and used appropriately. In many areas consent is not needed as schools have a duty to keep children safe and deliver a high standard of education. Where consent is needed, you will be asked for it in a clear manner and be allowed to remove it, as you wish. It is very important that you keep all of the data we hold at school up to date and accurate, please notify us of any changes in writing.
We have reviewed and up-dated our processes around how we are handling your information and have appointed an external Data Protection Officer to help with GDPR. If you would like to know more about the GDPR and your rights, please visit the UK’s data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner’s Office at www.ico.gov.uk.
