Summer Term 2021
Welcome back to the SHED for what we hope will be a super summer term, weather wise and learning wise.
We have planned lots of outdoor learning in many curriculum areas so hope to make the most of the amazing space we have at the farm. Please can you ensure your child has a sun hat in school every day and also consider sending your child to school already sun-creamed!
Fingers crossed for fine weather and no disruptions.
I look forward to zoom parents meetings over the next few weeks and hope that you have all had a great Easter holiday.
Monday 11th January
We are aware that at certain times of the day Tapestry is very difficult to access, due to the number of people all over the country trying to log on at the same time...it's the same for us!
Please don't worry if you can't log on at 9am; the resources are there all day so you can access them at any time. I am going to put stories that I record onto the school website under the 'Children' tab, 'Video Resource Centre' so that stories can be accessed more easily. You could always start the day with a story, or with a spot of Joe Wicks on YouTube. Thank you for all that you are doing to support your children's learning at home. Mr Halford

Buzzards in Lockdown
Happy New Year to all Buzzard children and families.
This is a strange time for all and I want you to know that we are thinking of you all and will do our utmost to continue educating the children as well as possible under the current circumstances. Learning for most children will now be online and daily learning will be signposted and linked through 'Tapestry', so please look there daily. There will be daily phonics, reading, maths and English activities for each morning, as well as 'topic' work and some Mathletics for the afternoons. Mrs Spurway and I will end each day with some form of story...either a video of us reading one or a link to follow.
Please be aware that one member of the Year 1 team will be available via Tapestry from 9am to 3pm daily to support children learning at home. Please contact us via Tapestry if you need support or reassurance.
'Embracing the Fullness of Life'
John 10:10 "I am come, that they might have life, and that they might have it abundantly".
We are a group of 18 happy and enthusiastic Year 1 children with Mr Halford as teacher and Mrs Simmons as trainee teacher with the class. Mrs Witcombe and Mrs Walker also work with us and Mrs Poole is with us at lunchtimes.
We are very lucky to be learning at the SHED at Frogmary Green Farm as it means we have lots of fabulous outdoor space to learn and play in. We have great views from our bubble and are called 'Buzzard' as we can often see buzzards flying past.
We have spent the first two weeks of term looking at the book 'The Dot' by Peter H Reynolds and have done lots of artwork inspired by the book. You will be able to see our work in The Gallery.
Now starts the business of becoming Year 1's! We are establishing routines and getting used to a more formal style of learning. It is not easy sitting at tables all day, so there are plenty of opportunities for outside learning and we will often have story time outside as well.
We know that this year is very different to what the children have been used to; please be assured that we have every child's best interests and well-being in mind. As always, if you have any concerns or questions please do let us know.

October Half Term Update
Each of the children now has a common exception word booklet with all of the 'red' words to learn. Please could your child complete one page per week, as noted at the top of each page. 'Red' words cannot be sounded out, so need to be learnt!
Also, please could you encourage your child to engage with 'Mathletics' each week. This is a proven way for children to consolidate their learning in maths, and to tackle new challenges. The children love receiving certificates too! If you are uncertain of your child's log-in details, please let us know.
I hope that you all have a restful and enjoyable half term.
